How to set up OAuth 2.0
Setting up the OAuth 2.0 (Open Authorization) authentication standard for Lexmark printers.
Overview
OAuth 2.0, which stands for “Open Authorization”, is a stronger method of identity management that provides a more secure method of user authentication and access authorization.
Lexmark printers support OAuth 2.0 authentication starting with the FW24 firmware release through Outlook Live and Microsoft 365.
This article provides instructions on how to set up OAuth 2.0 authentication on your Lexmark printers.
OAuth 2.0 registration procedures
To use OAuth 2.0 server authentication, the device must have a valid email address registered to OAuth 2.0.
A device may have a separate email address registered for the email server and fax server. This means that email and fax workflows can support separate OAuth 2.0 credentials.
Email Server OAuth 2.0 Authentication
Registration
To register OAuth 2.0 for Email Server:
Access the printer’s embedded web server (EWS) page and go to
Settings
>
Email
>
Set Up OAuth 2.0
for Email Server accordion.
Verify that the Status field says “Registration required”.
Click the Register button.
Follow the instructions displayed to complete registration.
The user will be asked to input an alphanumeric code from the provider. This code will expire within 15 minutes.
If more than 15 minutes have elapsed and the code has not been used yet, this code is now expired and a new code will have to be generated.
Verify that the Status field says “Registered”.
Deregistration
To deregister an email address in OAuth 2.0 for Email Server:
Access the printer’s EWS page and go to
Settings
>
Email
>
Set Up OAuth 2.0
for Email Server accordion.
Click the “Deregister” button.
This automatically prompts a pop-up confirmation window to deregister the email address used during OAuth 2.0 registration.
Selecting
Yes
triggers the deregistration process and selecting
No
keeps the email address registered.
Verify that the Status field says “Registration required”.
Setting Up OAuth 2.0 Email Server Authentication
Register OAuth 2.0 for Email Server. See the steps above.

Click Save.
Fax Server OAuth 2.0 Authentication
For fax server setup, the user has the option to use the same settings as in the email server or set up the fax server differently.
Using the same settings in the email server for the fax server would mean that the registration for OAuth 2.0 for the email server would also be used.
