Consider this procedure if you observe the following symptoms:
You are unable to send a fax.
You are behind a PABX and unable to send a fax.
You do not hear any dial tones when connecting a standard phone to the phone line.

"No Dial Tone Present" errors display on the the transmission log or job call log.
If you are unsure whether or not you require a dial prefix, please contact your IT support desk or phone system administrator.
How to Set a Dial Prefix
on the MFP
Method 1: Control panel
This method is preferred if the device is not on the network.
Click on the
MENU
button.
Click the down-arrow and click on
SETTINGS
when visible.
Click on the
FAX SETTINGS
.
Select
ANALOG FAX SETUP
.
Click on
FAX SEND SETTINGS
.
Click on the down-arrow until
DIAL PREFIX
is visible.
Enter the necessary value.
Click on
SUBMIT
.
IMPORTANT:
You may need to enter additional pauses into the dial prefix in certain environments. Again, see if your phone system administrator for additional assistance.
Method 2: Embedded web server
This method is preferred if the device is on the network and you are not near the machine.
