Installing the optional 550‑sheet tray
Know which precautions to take and how to position the printer when you are adding optional trays.
To avoid the risk of electrical shock, if you are accessing the controller board or installing optional hardware or memory devices sometime after setting up the printer, then turn the printer off, and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet before continuing. If you have any other devices attached to the printer, then turn them off as well, and unplug any cables going into the printer.
- This option must be always installed directly under the printer and must not be installed together with another optional 550-sheet tray.
- This task requires a flat‑head screwdriver.
- Turn off the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, and then from the printer.
Unpack the optional 550‑sheet tray.To prevent tray damage, hold both the front and rear sides when lifting.Attach the right tray cover.
Pull out the 550‑sheet tray insert.
Remove the upper tray cover.
Remove the screws.
Attach the lower tray cover.
Install the screws.
Attach the upper tray cover.
Insert the 550‑sheet tray insert.Remove the cover under the right side of the printer.
Align the printer with the 550‑sheet tray, and then lower it into place.If the printer weight is greater than 20 kg (44 lb), then it may require two or more people to lift it safely.
Pull out the standard tray insert.
Secure the 550‑sheet tray to the printer.
Insert the standard tray insert.
Secure the rear part of the 550‑sheet tray to the printer.
Connect one end of the power cord to the printer, and then the other end to the electrical outlet.To avoid the risk of fire or electrical shock, connect the power cord to an appropriately rated and properly grounded electrical outlet that is near the product and easily accessible.Turn on the printer.Add the tray in the print driver to make it available for print jobs.
