84x.xx error

Here are steps to troubleshoot a 84x.xx error on a MX321, MX421, MX521, MX522, or MX622 printer.

Issue description

he printer posts an error code 84x.xx
- where “x
” denotes any numbers from 0 to 3 as listed among the following examples:

840.01
, 840.02

842.00
, 842.01
, 842.02

843.00
, 843.01

Solution

An 84x.xx
means that the printer's scanner is either disabled or failing.

For 840
error, the scanner is automatically disabled to allow you to continue to use the non-scanning features of the printer like printing. To re-enable scanner, perform any of the following methods:

Method 1
: From the printer's embedded webserver
(EWS
)

Type the printer's IP address into the web browser's URL field and navigate to Settings
> Device
> Maintenance
> Configuration Menu
> Scanner Configuration
> select Enabled
and hit the Save
button to save the changes and enable the scanner. In the sample screenshot from the right-hand side, the Enabled option is outlined in red.

Method 2
: From the printer's control panel

Navigate to Settings
> Device
> Maintenance
> Configuration Menu
> Scanner Configuration
> Disabled Scanner and select Enabled.
