Installing the printer software
Run the software installer to get your printer up and running.
Installing printer software lets your printer communicate with your computer. It enables full functionality, ensures compatibility with your operating system, and simplifies network or wireless setup. Installing the printer software also installs the print, scan, and fax drivers.
Depending on your operating system, you may use the Microsoft IPP Class Driver or AirPrint to connect the printer to your computer. For more information, go to the Microsoft or Apple support site.
Before you begin, make sure that:
- For network printers, the printer and computer are connected to the same network. Write down the printer IP address that appears at the top of the printer display.
- For local printers, the printer is connected to the computer with a USB cable.
- Go to https://support.lexmark.com, and then clickDrivers & downloads.
- In theSearch by Device Modelfield, type the printer model, and then clickFind Drivers & Downloads.
- In theRecommended Driversection, clickDownload Driver Package.If your computer runs on the Linux operating system, then select a driver from theAdditional downloads compatible with [printer model]section.
- ClickStart Download.
- Run the installer, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
