Scanning to a computer
Follow these instructions to send scanned documents to your computer.
Before you begin, make sure that:
- The printer firmware is updated. For more information, see the “Printer firmware instructions” section.
- The computer and the printer are connected to the same network.
For Windows users
Using Lexmark ScanBack Utility
- From the computer, run Lexmark ScanBack Utility, and then clickNext.To download the utility, go to www.lexmark.com/downloads.
- ClickSetup, and then add the printer IP address.View the printer IP address on the printer home screen. The IP address appears as four sets of numbers separated by periods, such as 123.123.123.123.
- ClickClose>Next.
- Select the size of the original document, and then clickNext.
- Select a file format and scan resolution, and then clickNext.
- Type a unique scan profile name, and then clickNext.
- Browse to the location you want to save the scanned document, create a file name, and then clickNext.To reuse the scan profile, enableCreate Shortcut, and then create a unique shortcut name.
- ClickFinish.
- Load an original document into the automatic document feeder or on the scanner glass.
- From the printer control panel, selectScan to Computer, and then select a scan profile.Make sure that Scan to Computer is enabled. From the control panel, navigate toSettings>Device>Visible Home Screen Icons>Scan to Computer>Display.
Using Windows Fax and Scan
Make sure that the printer is added to the computer. For more information, see Adding printers to a computer.
- Load an original document into the automatic document feeder or on the scanner glass.
- From the computer, openWindows Fax and Scan.
- From the Source menu, select a scanner source.
- If necessary, change the scan settings.
- Scan the document.
For Macintosh users
Make sure that the printer is added to the computer. For more information, see Adding printers to a computer.
- Load an original document into the automatic document feeder or on the scanner glass.
- From the computer, do either of the following:
- OpenImage Capture.
- OpenPrinters & Scanners, and then select a printer. ClickScan>Open Scanner.
- From the Scanner window, do one or more of the following:
- Select where you want to save the scanned document.
- Select the size of the original document.
- To scan from the ADF, selectDocument Feederfrom the Scan Menu or enableUse Document Feeder.
- If necessary, configure the scan settings.
- ClickScan.
