Menu item	Description
PCL SmartSwitch On Off	Sets the printer to automatically switch to PCL emulation when a print job received through a parallel port requires it, regardless of the default printer language On is the factory default setting. When the Off setting is used, the printer does not examine incoming data. When the Off setting is used, the printer uses PostScript emulation if PS SmartSwitch is set to On. It uses the default printer language specified in the Setup menu if PS SmartSwitch is set to Off.

NPA Mode Auto Off	Sets the printer to perform the special processing required for bidirectional communication following the conventions defined by the NPA protocol Auto is the factory default setting. Changing this setting automatically resets the printer.
Parallel Buffer Disabled Auto	Sets the size of the parallel input buffer Auto is the factory default setting. The Disabled setting turns off job buffering. Any jobs already buffered on the disk are printed before normal processing is resumed. The maximum size allowed depends on the amount of memory in the printer, the size of the other link buffers, and whether Resource Save is set to On or Off. To increase the maximum size range for the Parallel Buffer, disable the USB and network buffers. Changing this setting automatically resets the printer.
Advanced Status On Off	Enables bidirectional communication through the parallel port On is the factory default setting. The Off setting disables parallel port negotiation.
Protocol Fastbytes Standard	Specifies the parallel port protocol Fastbytes is the factory default setting. It provides compatibility with most existing parallel ports and is the recommended setting. The Standard setting tries to resolve parallel port communication problems.
Honor Init Off On	Determines whether the printer honors printer hardware initialization requests from the computer Off is the factory default setting. The computer requests initialization by activating the Init signal from the parallel port. Many personal computers activate the Init signal each time the computer is turned on.
Parallel Mode 2 On Off	Determines whether the parallel port data is sampled on the leading or trailing edge of strobe On is the factory default setting.
Mac Binary PS Auto On Off	Sets the printer to process Macintosh binary PostScript print jobs Auto is the factory default setting. The Off setting filters print jobs using the standard protocol. The On setting processes raw binary PostScript print jobs.
ENA Address <xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>	Sets the network address, netmask, and gateway information for an external print server that is attached to the printer using a parallel cable This menu is available only if the printer is attached to an external print server through the parallel port.
ENA Netmask <xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>	Sets the network address, netmask, and gateway information for an external print server that is attached to the printer using a parallel cable This menu is available only if the printer is attached to an external print server through the parallel port.
ENA Gateway <xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>.<xxx>	Sets the network address, netmask, and gateway information for an external print server that is attached to the printer using a parallel cable. This menu is available only if the printer is attached to an external print server through the parallel port.
