Forgot Confidential Print Password? How to Remove Print & Hold Jobs to Free Printer Resources

Overview
The "Confidential Printing" ("Print and Hold") feature secures print jobs in a portion of allocated printer memory until a password is used to free those held jobs. Unfortunately, forgotten passwords may cause a build-up of print jobs, which can lead to printer resource issues and possible "Out of Memory" error messages.
Procedure: Removing Confidential Print Jobs
The method to use depends on the model type and age of your Lex mark printer or MFP.
WARNING:
 Lexmark will not be held responsible for any jobs that are lost as a result of performing this procedure.
Current MFPs
 (e.g. X644x, X646x, X78x, X85x MFPs)
with user interface:
  1. Press the
    Menu
     button.
  2. Press
    Settings
    .
  3. Press
    Print Settings
    .
  4. Press
    Utilities Menu
    .
  5. Press
    Remove Held Jobs
    .
  6. Select
    Confidential
    .
X642e MFP:
  1. Press the red
    Cancel
     button.
  2. Press
    Reset Printer
    .
  3. Observe the warning message "
    When resetting the printer, some data or jobs may be lost.
    "
  4. Press
    Reset
    .
  5. Observe "
    Resetting Printer, Please Wait.
    "
    NOTE:
    You can avoid having to perform this procedure by configuring
    Job Expiration
     on the printer. Click here for the

X422 MFP:
  1. Press the
    Print/Profiles
     button to the left of the display.
  2. Press the directional down button to select the appropriate
    Username
    .
  3. Press the
    Select
     button.
  4. When
    Username_Confidential
     appears, press the red
    Stop
     button.
  5. Press the directional right button.
  6. Press the directional down button until
    Reset Printer
     is displayed.
  7. Press
    Select
    .
Lexmark laser printers with display:
  1. Press the
    Menu
     button.
  2. Press the directiona l up or down button until
    Settings
     is displayed, and then press
    Select
    .
  3. Press the directional up or down button until
    Utilities Menu
     is is displayed, and then press
    Select
    .
  4. Press the directional down button to select
    Remove Held Jobs
    , and then press
    Select
    .
  5. "
    Confidential
    " should be displayed; click
    Select
    .
  6. Observe the "
    Deleting Held Jobs
    " message.
  7. Press the
    Back
    button to go back to
    Ready
    .

    Resetting the Printer

  5. The printer should go back to
    Ready

Lexmark X560 MFP (Secure Print):
The secure print data in the printer's memory is cleared when the printer is turned off.
