Resetting the photoconductor page count

Resetting the photoconductor page count

How to Reset the Photoconductor Page Count on the Lexmark X463, X464,&X466 Multifunction Printers

Issue description

You must reset the photoconductor page count every time you replace the photoconductor unit. Otherwise, the printer will not register the new photoconductor and will operate as though the old photoconductor unit were still installed. The printer therefore will continue to display an
84 – PC Kit life
or a
Photoconductor (PC) Life Warning
message. In addition, once the old, unreset photoconductor page count reaches a certain point, the printer will stop printing and display an
84 – Replace PC Kit
or a
Photoconductor Exhausted
message.
The photoconductor page count should be reset
only
when a completely new photoconductor kit is installed. Resetting the page count without replacing the photoconductor kit will cause the photoconductor to operate beyond its intended life and will create print quality issues or possible damage to the printer.

Solution

To reset the photoconductor page count:
  1. After installing the new
    PC
unit and the machine has been restarted, leave the printer ON and open its front cover, then press and hold the
    Stop / Cancel

      OK
      .

Stop / Cancel

must
replace the photoconductor unit and reset the photoconductor page count to clear this message.
The printer will stop working once this message appears. You cannot clear it without replacing the photoconductor unit and resetting the photoconductor page count.
