Explanation

This is not a Lexmark limitation. It is due to PDF versions 1.2 and 1.3 not being able to fully support Secure PDF

While PDF 1.7 (Acrobat 8/9) is not represented in this chart, any secure PDF created with PDF 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 can be read by these latest Adobe Acrobat releases.
