Procedure: Manual Creation of Print or Fax Queues
USB Connected Printers
Follow the steps below in adding a
USB printer queue
manually:Step | Action |
1 | Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax. |
2 | Click [ + ] sign.See sample image here . |
3 | Select Add Other Printer or Scanner. |
4 | From the list of discovered printers, select the printer that is attached to your computer. See image here. Note: Under Kind , select the one labeled USB Multifunction . Bonjour is used for wireless or network printers. |
5 | From the Print Using drop-down menu, Select Printer Software. See sample image here. |
6 | Look for your Lexmark printer model. Click OK and then click Add. This should automatically add the print queue.Click here to see sample image. |
Network Connected Printers
Follow the steps below in adding a
Network printer queue
manually:Step | Action |
1 | Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax. |
2 | Click [ + ] sign, and then click on the IP tab.Click here to see image sample. |
3 | Under " Protocol ", select "HP JetDirect – Socket " and enter printer's IP Address . It will automatically search for the driver applicable.Note: If the printer driver cannot be automatically selected, you can manually select the PPD by clicking Others from the Print Using
drop-down list. |
4 | Click Add, then the queue will be added. |
NOTE:
Adding a Network Print Queue manually only
allows Wireless Printing.Fax Queue Creation
Follow the steps below to add
Fax object
manually:Step | Action |
1 | Go to System Preferences > Print & Fax . |
2 | Click ( + ) sign, and then click on the Default tab.See sample image here. |
3 | From the list of discovered devices, select the fax device that is attached to your computer. Click here to see sample image. |
4 | From the Print Using
drop down list, select the applicable fax driver. |
5 | After choosing the correct fax driver, fill out the Name field to something that you can easily identify the fax queue. Then click the Add button to add it.See sample image here. |
6 | A fax queue is now created in Print & Fax. |
