This article outlines the proper handling and replacement procedure of the
Photoconductor Unit
(PCU
) for a Lexmark X95x MFP
.Solution
- Open thefront dooras seen here.
- Rotate the release levercounter-clockwiseto open the cover. Click here for an illustration.
- Lower the cover as seen here.Potential Damage —To avoid overexposing thephotoconductor unit, donotleave the door open for more thanten minutes.
- Grasp the handle of thephotoconductor unitand pull it out of the machine. Click here for an illustration.Pull out thephotoconductor unitwithout touching theblue, shiny drum.
- Unpack the replacementphotoconductor unit.In order to avoid contamination of thephotoconductor unit, donottouch theblue, shiny surface of the drum.
- Align and insert the end ofphotoconductor unit. Click here for an illustration.
- Donotuse a sharp object to remove thetapebecause it may damage thephotoconductor unit.
- Push the tab forward to insert thephotoconductor unit. Click here for an illustration.
- Gently pull theprinthead wipersout until they stop, and then slowly slide them back into place. Click here for an illustration.
- Close the cover as seen here.
- Rotate the release leverclockwiseto lock the cover. Click here for an illustration.
