Proper Power-Up Sequence for First-Time Installation of the Lexmark 6500e Scanner

What you will see

The scanner or scanner card is not recognized after installing the Lexmark 6500e Scanner Communications Card
on a new
Lexmark T65x printer.

If you see a 900 Firmware Error’ Displayed on the printer for more suggestions.

Probable cause

The printer did not complete the Setup Wizard before the additional add-on option card was installed.

Suggested remedy

Before you install the scanner communications card, the Setup Wizard
on the printer must be completed for any T65x + 6500e combination.

To do this:

Turn ON
the printer.

Complete Setup Wizard
on printer until "Ready
" displays on the operator's panel.

Print a Menu Settings
page to verify a minimum code level of .P128
on the printer, and update the code if necessary. for the latest firmware release notes and availability.

Turn OFF
the printer.

Install the Scanner Communications Card.
NOTE:
Make sure correct card is used. Two cards shipped with scanner --> T650/T652 and T654.

Connect Ethernet Cable between scanner and printer.

Connect other cables as needed (Fax, Ethernet, USB).

Unlock the scanner.

Turn the printer ON

Turn the scanner ON
