How to Determine If a Computer is Running Microsoft Windows or macOS

Overview

Unlike certain applications, device drivers such as print drivers must match the operating system architecture.

Procedures

Microsoft Windows (Windows OS)
  1. Right click
    Computer/This PC
     icon in the start menu or desktop. Select Properties from the menu.
  2. Check the Operating System under Windows edition section.
  3. Check whether the Operating System runs on a
    32-bit
    or
    64-bit
    under System Type.
Macintosh Operating System (macOS)
  1. Click the Apple icon at the upper left of the screen.
  2. From the Apple menu, click About This Mac.
  3. Click the Overview tab.
