No power
No Power on Lexmark C/X54x, C/X74x, C/X792
Overview
Should the printer
not
power on, or if the control panel is blank, it could be a problem with the Low Voltage Power Supply
or with the System Board
itself.
NOTE:
While this issue often requires service, it may be temporary and capable of resolution without assistance from Lexmark Technical Support
.Troubleshooting
Step
| Action
|
1
| Power off the printer, power it back on, and then check for any indicator or blinking lights on the printer's control panel. |
2 | Check the printer's network port as to whether it has a blinking or steady light. |
3 | Check for any gear noise upon powering up the printer by listening to it for a minute. The printer normally goes through a short warm-up sequence where it sounds as though it is going to print out a page.
Note: If the page prints correctly, you can continue using the printer in the meantime via computer. |
4
| Check for any fan noise or activity in the printer. |
5
| If the printer's power cord is plugged into a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS), unplug it and connect it directly to a grounded wall outlet. Some of these devices can interfere with consistent electrical flow and cause the printer to fail to power up properly. Important! Also disconnect any data cables (i.e., parallel, USB, Ethernet) from the rear of the printer before testing it. Any defect in a data cable may cause an electrical short circuit that could result in a loss of power to the printer. |
6
| If the printer is plugged directly to the wall outlet, plug it into another known good power source. If the printer still
try another grounded outlet . |
7
| Should there still be no power, please contact Lexmark Technical Support as a service call may be required. |

1
| Check both ends of the power supply cable – from power cord to power supply and from power supply to system card (JLVPS1). |
2
| Replace the Low Volt Power Supply (LVPS ) if necessary.
|
3
| If issue continues, replace System Card /Board .
Note:
Always update the code after replacing the System Card.
|
4 | For C/X54x , the printhead may be defective, thus causing LVPS to go into protection shutoff mode. Check to make sure the flat flex cable is inserted properly into system card before replacing the printhead assembly.
