Issue description
- The printer display shows a 31.4x error code due to a missing or unresponsive cartridge.
- The error codes can be any of the following:
- 31.40
- 31.41
- 31.42
- 31.43
- 31.44
- 31.45
- 31.46
Solution
- Check if the toner cartridge installed is a genuine Lexmark cartridge.
- Go to the Check to Protect Tool to verify the serial number of the toner cartridge.
- If the toner cartridge is non-genuine, then replace it with a genuine one.
- Remove and reinstall the imaging kit and toner cartridge.
- Make sure that the date and time on the printer is set correctly.
- From the control panel or Embedded Web Server, navigate to .
- Check the firmware version of the printer. If the firmware is not the latest version, then update to the latest one.
