200.03 paper jam

Here are steps to troubleshoot a 200.03 paper jam on a Lexmark MS/MXx1x series printer.

Issue description

The printer posts
200.03
paper jam – “Page did not reach the input sensor or was late reaching input sensor, but was successfully picked from the source.”
Pages may print one at a time, with a large gap between each sheet. The 200.03 Error could happen randomly during normal print jobs, but may also happen consistently when Tray 1 is out of paper.

Solution

  1. Open and then close Tray 1. Make sure that it is seated fully.
  2. Verify that the paper in Tray 1 isn't damaged or wavy. If it is either, rotate the media so the edge facing the back of the printer now points towards the front. Otherwise, replace with straight media.
  3. Make sure that the pick tires are installed correctly.
  4. Update the printer's firmware to EC5 or the latest release. The latest code should include the fix for false 200.03 paper jam.
