Overview
Some customers, who find the button feedback or fax ringer too loud, usually turn the Quiet mode
ON
thinking they will disable the touch screen sound. Quiet mode does turn the fax speakers and alarms off; however, it also runs the print job at half the speed.This article shows how to manipulate the sound controls and describes the functions for

.Audio feedback
This printer function specifies the audio volume for the buttons. The menu can be accessed through
Settings
> General Settings
> Audio Feedback
.- Button Feedback:ONorOFF
- Volume:1-10(soft to loud)
Touching the arrow on the key board can override this setting.
To disable the touch screen sound, set the button feedback to the
OFF
position.Key Board Arrow
The keyboard arrow button can control the sound level of the touch screen without going through the
Audio Feedback
menu. Pressing this button will override the volume settings without any notification from the screen. Click here for an illustration.Fax speakers
Fax
(short for facsimile), sometimes called telecopying or telefax (the latter short for telefacsimile), is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material (both text and images), normally to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device.This function usually has notification sounds, where you have the option to set the volume to HIGH and LOW or to switch the volume to ON or OFF. The Menu can be accessed through
Settings
> Fax Settings
> Analog Fax Set Up
> Speaker Settings
from the embedded web server (EWS
).- Speaker Volume:HIGHorLOW
- Ringer Volume:ONorOFF
To stop the Ringer sound, turn the Ringer volume
OFF
.Quiet mode
A Lexmark printer feature that significantly reduces acoustics produced during a print job by running the print engine at a slower speed. Overall performance is slower.
Never turn this
ON
