Unable to Install a Print Driver After the Windows Server 2012 R2 Is Updated

Solution

Issue description
 

When you install or add any print driver after the Windows Server 2012 R2 operating system has been updated, it will register an Unable to find a core driver package that is required by the printer driver package error message.
 

 

Resolution
 

  1. Press the Win key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

 
  1. Access the Microsoft Registry Editor by typing in regedit, then clicking OK.

 
  1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\.

 
  1. (1) Click on the CurrentVersion, (2) go to DevicePath and make sure that (3) Default Value is %SystemRoot%\inf; then click on OK. 

 
  1. Re-install the driver and check whether the error still appears.
