Missing Fax icon issue

Solution

Issue Description:

The fax icon disappears from the home screen even without any changes. This may happen for the device that has been turned on for a longer period such as more than 30 days. In the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS), see Settings > Fax > Fax Setup > Fax Transport it is set to none and no option for analog.

When you reboot the printer, the fax icon will be visible again but this is just a work around and the issue may happen again.

 

Explanation:

This is a known issue in firmware FW7.0 and have been fixed in firmware FW7.2 or higher.

Check TE363 for the latest PE firmware release.

Explanation:

This is a known issue in firmware FW7.0 and have been fixed in firmware FW7.2 or higher. Due to Clean-up policy applied in FW7, the printer is running a clean-up every 24-hours and deletes the files that are stored under tmp folder and are older than 30 days. Unfortunately, the faxservice files are part of that. It causes the fax icon missing after the clean-up is applied. After the device reboot, these files are restored and the fax is back to working condition again.

 

Remote Fix:

  1. For remote fix opportunity, go through the steps in the Customer section if the Customer has not already done so.
     
  2. Check TE363 for the latest PE firmware release. 
     
  3. Should the issue persist, please contact your next level of support for further diagnosis or possible escalation.
