Updating the firmware on a printer having a parallel card (27X2000) in it fails. This issue happens only when the printer's firmware level is prior to FW5.2.
In resolving the issue, the parallel card must be removed from the printer first then proceed with the firmware upgrade. Re-install the parallel card back to the printer after a successful upgrade.
NOTE: This is only an issue on the firmware level prior to FW5.2. After the firmware upgrade to level xxxxx.052.024 or later, updating the firmware will work normally without removing the parallel card.
Refer to How to Check, Download, and Update with the Latest Lexmark Printer Firmware for the steps in checking, downloading and updating the printer firmware.
