Determining causation

First, identify if a specific function is triggering the print quality (PQ) issue.

Scanning/Copying only

Print a demo page for additional confirmation. To do this, navigate to Menu > Reports > Print Demo using the navigational buttons on the printer.

Does the demo page reveal the same print defect?

If no, then consider the following additional troubleshooting resources.

PC print jobs only

Print a demo page for additional confirmation.

These issues are often fixed using a combination of app, driver, and printer setting adjustments.

If no, perform a separate search within Knowledgebase or contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance.

  1. Download and print the print quality test page (PQTP).

PQTP – 8.5 × 11" (Letter)

PQTP – 210mm × 297mm (A4)

 

  1. Using the PQTP Comparison table below,  identify the sample number (#) and description that best matches your print sample.  

    If... Then... And...
    Your sample matches any of those in blue... Likely a new Imaging Unit is required.

    You can order this item from any vendor that sells Lexmark supplies.

    Your sample matches any other #'d sample... Click on the image to see if an article exists that contains additional diagnostic information... Follow the suggestions in the affiliated article.


     
  2. Contact Lexmark Technical Support and provide the agent with this article's ID# SO8771, and the sample number (#)  that most closely resembles your print quality test page.
