Lexmark MX71x & MX81x – Unable to Clear the ADF Maintenance Intervention Message

Issue description

When the printer posts the intervention message "Scanner Maintenance required, use ADF kit [80]," installing the maintenance kit (Part Number: 40X8431) will not be able to clear the message.




The issue will occur if the ADF Separator Roll and Pick Assembly Counter is not reset after a new ADF Maintenance Kit installation. Follow these steps below to fix the issue:

Go to the printer's Configuration menu:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Press and hold 2 and 6 simultaneously.
  • Power on the printer.
  • Release the buttons when splash screen appears. 

In the Configuration Menu, navigate to Reset ADF Maintenance Kit CounterReset Separator Roll and Pick Assembly Counter.

Upgrading the printer’s firmware to LW60.xx.P643 or higher should be able to clear the Scan ADF Maintenance message. Click the link to know more about how to download and install the latest Lexmark firmware.
