Overview
Certain password configurable devices do not allow password configuration via MVP.
Affected Products
The following printers or MFPs may exhibit this restriction:
- - E26x* Series monochrome laser printers
- - X36x Series MFPs
- - C54x Series color laser printers
- - X54x Series MFPs
*An x denotes a number within a given printer or multifunction printer model series; e.g., Lexmark C544.
Suggested Fix
Three steps are required to perform this function
Download and edit ucf file
- Click here to download the zipped version of the ucf file.
- Extract the zip file.
- Edit the "nopassword" contents with your preferred password.
- Save the edited ucf file.
Turn ON FTP
See procedure below for more information.
Send the file via MVP's "Generic File Download"
- Select Generic File Download (
) from Actions or the All Tasks (
) drop-down menu.
- Click Load and browse to the directory location of the ucf file and select it.
- Click Load again.
- Highlight the file and click (>).
- Select UCF Files for target location and verify that the remote directory contains the /dev/config directory. Click here for an illustration.
- Click Next.
- Select target device(s) or folder(s) and click Next.
- Confirm FTP is selected.
- Click Finish.
- Observe Downloading Files...
Procedure: How to Activate MVP FTP function
- Open web browser.
- In the address field, enter http://ip.address.of.mvpserver:9180/~MvServer (replacing ip.adress.of.mvpserver with the server's IP address). Important! This URL is case sensitive. You can substitute "localhost" for the IP address if you are working from the computer (host) where the MV server resides.
- Click on Parameters.
- Scroll down the page and locate services.fileDownload.forceFTP.
- Set this value to True.
- Click Save at the top of the screen.
- Stop and restart Mvserver as instructed.
