Solution

 

Most Sounds caused by the device printing mechanisms are normal.

Click each of the files below for sounds that a typical laser printer will make during operation:

 

Normal Sounds

Abnormal Sounds

Remedy

Fuser Click
  1. Replace the Fuser
AIO Redrive Clog
  1. Replace the Upper Redrive Assembly
  2. If the noise continues, replace the AIO Top Cover Assembly
Cartridge Shutter
  1. Verify all internal packing material is removed
  2. Remove any packaging still present in the printer
  3. If the noise continues or no internal packaging is found, replace all cartridges and developers
Fuser Gear Tick
  1. Replace the Fuser
Fuser Motor Click
  1. Replace the Fuser
Fuser Squeak
  1. Replace the Fuser
ITU Screech
  1. Replace the ITU (Image Transfer Unit)
PCU Cleaner Squeak
  1. Replace the PCU (Photoconductor Unit)
250 Tray Squeak
  1. Replace the 250 Tray Assembly
Dislodged Developer Gear
  1. Reseat the Developer Gear. See Technical Service Bulletin: TE456 for the procedure.
