Solution

What you will see

You may observe the following symptoms if your router has any proprietary range extending or speed boosting features enabled:

  • -The printer obtains an IP address.

  • -The printer displays no Trouble Code. See bottom of network settings page or look under TCP/IP settings via the printer's web page (go to http://ip_address, where ip_address is the TCP/IP address of the printer or All-In-One).

  • -The printer port never gets created as identified when you open the Lexmark Network Configuration Utility. Click here for image.

  • -Connection Failure during initial setup.

 Special Modes

Insufficient space exists to list all of the many router manufacturers with differing proprietary special modes; however, here are two examples and two different modes:
  • -Belkin's eXtended Range Feature

  • -D-link's Super G Mode Feature

ROUTER NOTE: Please reference your router's User Guide or technical support offerings to determine which corresponding special proprietary modes may be included with your router.

What to do

It is recommended that you disable or change the setting to comply with the official IEEE 802.11 b/g/n specification. These proprietary performance features are designed to work with like-branded client 802.11b/g/n option cards.
After disabling or changing the setting to comply with the official IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard, rerun the Wireless Configuration Utility or try to create a port.
