This document is applicable to the following Lexmark printer models:

  • Single function: C54x, CS31x, CS41x, CS51X
  • Multi-function: X54x, CX31x, CX41x, CX51x

 NOTE: An x denotes any number within a given printer model series.

This article explains how to replace the Black and Color Imaging kit on the Lexmark color laser and multifunction printers listed above.

For the Lexmark single function color laser printers

Grasp the front door by the side handles and pull it forward.


 CAUTION! The inside of the printer may be hot. To avoid injury, allow the components to cool off before continuing.

2 Open the top door.

3 Remove the toner cartridges by lifting the handles and then gently pulling away from the imaging kit.

4 Remove the right-side cover.

5 Press the green levers on either side of the waste toner bottle, and remove the bottle.

6 Lift the blue levers on the imaging kit, and pull it towards you.

Press down on the blue levers, grasp the green handles on the sides, and then pull the imaging kit out of the printer.

Unpack the new Black and Color imaging kit. Leave the packaging on the developer units.

Gently shake the Black and Color developer units from side to side.

Remove the packaging from the individual developer units.

Insert the new Black and Color developer units.

Note: Make sure each developer unit is inserted into its corresponding slot.

Align and insert the imaging kit.

Warning! Do not touch the underside of the imaging kit as this could damage it.

 

Rotate the blue levers down until the imaging kit drops into place.

Place the used Black and Color imaging kit in the packaging materials of the new imaging kit. Return the used supply items to Lexmark for recycling.

For the Lexmark multifunction color laser printers

Grasp the front door at the side handholds, and then pull it toward you to open it.


 CAUTION! The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching.
