Printer Not Added to the List in Printer Setup Utility; Network Installation Failure in Macintosh OS X.3.9 |

When attempting to perform a network installation of any network-ready inkjet printer in OS X.3.9 (Panther), you receive the following message:
The message states: "Your printer has not been added to the list in the Printer Setup Utility. Launch the application and add the printer."
You cannot just add the printer via the Printer Setup Utility since the network configuration components of the driver have not completed installation or configuration of the print queue (port creation). The generic message displayed by the operating system only identifies print queue creation failure and does not give a specific explanation. Please try the suggested action below.
NOTE: This suggestion assumes that this is a first-time setup solution with aor
Wi-Fi indicator light.
Steps Action 1 Go to System Preferences. 2 Click on Network. 3 Under Show, select Network Port Configurations. Click here for image. 4 Take note of all currently checked (selected) items as you will want to return your configuration to its original state afterwards. 5 Uncheck all Port Configurations not required to communicate with the router or network. Click here for image.
NOTE: If you have a cable leading directly into the router from your Macintosh, it is likely that you are communicating with the router via Ethernet. Otherwise, AirPort is most likely the network communication method.6 Click Apply Now. 7 Repeat the entire printer installation process from the beginning. 8 After successful installation of the printer, repeat Steps 1-5 to restore the original Port Configurations.
