This article explains how you can test the functionality of a TWAIN driver without having to install a Lexmark-supplied software package (such as Presto PageMaker) or another third-party software application.
NOTE: The TWACKER utility is from the TWAIN WORKING GROUP. Lexmark does not provide support for this program and the information below is provided as a courtesy only.
Step Action 1 Download the "twack.zip" application package from http://www.twain.org/devfiles/twack.zip. 2 Unzip twack.zip, locate the TWACKER.exe file, and run the executable. 3
Once the utility is open, click File, Select Source. The generated list will contain all installed TWAIN drivers.
If the driver you wish to test is not listed, it is not installed correctly. Reinstall the driver file to resolve this issue.4 From the list, select the driver you wish to test. 5
For testing purposes you will have two options:
Scan to File - Click File, "File".
Scan to screen - Click File, "Native". (NOTE: The scan to screen cannot be saved.)6 Click File and ensure Show UI is checked. 7 Click File, Setup to change the various settings (resolution, scan mode, etc). 8 Click File, Acquire to initiate the scan. If the driver is working correctly, the scan will proceed normally.
Refer to the printer's service manual for additional troubleshooting steps and for removal/installation procedures.
If you require additional assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support. NOTE: When calling for support, you will need the machine/model type and serial number (SN) of your printer.
Please call from near the computer and printer, in case the technician on the phone asks you to perform a task on one or both of these devices.
