Error 200.21; Error 200.29; Error: " 200 "; Error: " 200.28 "; Paper jam; S2 sensor flag; Cannot find jammed paper

Solution

What You Will See

The printer displays recurring or solid  200.21,  200.28, or  200.29 Paper Jam messages.

Explanation of the Error

The printer thinks there is a sheet of paper or other obstruction located on the S2 sensor
If the printer is stuck in a 200.28 paper jam message, the S2 sensor may be malfunctioning or the sensor flag may have broken off or become dislodged.

Check the S2 Sensor Area

Follow the steps in the table below to help you locate any paper or other obstructions that may be blocking the S2 sensor.

Remove any jammed pieces of paper or other obstructions you find here.

  • If you were able to find and remove any paper, carefully reinstall the image transfer unit and the toner cartridges. Power on the printer. If the printer comes up to the Ready status, try printing again to see if the error has cleared.

  • If you find no jammed pieces of paper or other obstructions in the printer, check the sensor flag. If the sensor flag is present but slightly dislodged or stuck, try to get it back into the proper position. If you can return the sensor flag to its correct position, carefully reinstall the image transfer unit and the toner cartridges. Power on the printer. If the printer comes up to the Ready status, try printing again to see if the error has cleared.

If the paper jam error continues after you have performed all of the above steps, a part on the printer is not working correctly and will need to be replaced. This will require a service action to the printer.
