Solution

What you will see

A communication error appears when you try to print or scan. 

Explanation

An issue was recently discovered with some internet security packages and the listed Lexmark printers. The issue turned out to be with the "Parental Controls" module of the packages.

NOTE:
 
Most 2008 versions of internet security packages do not have this issue.

What to do

  1. Use Add/Remove Programs to remove the Parental Controls module.
  2. If this option is not available, remove the internet security package (ISP) completely. For additional information or a product update, please contact your ISP providers. ISP providers offer a free download to their customers.
