Solution

What You Will See


When you try to save or apply device setting changes, the message "MVP ERROR, "The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request." is displayed within MVP 11.1.
NOTE:  The error is consistent regardless of the parameter change or selected device.

Explanation


This error is due to unwanted characters becoming appended to the end of the ...\Lexmark\MarkVision Server\granite\data\mvserver.properties file. On very rare occasions these characters appear after a migration.


Resolution


  1. -Stop MVP Server and the MVP Web Server.  Click here for more information or see 'Additional Information' below.
  2. -Navigate to the ...\Lexmark\Markvision Server\granite\data\mvserver.properties file.
  3. -Open the mvserver.properties file using Notepad or WordPad.
     
  4. -Remove the additional characters at the end of the statement (see above). 
  5. -Restart MVP Server and Web Server Services. 
  6. -Repeat the steps leading to this problem scenario to verify success. 


Additional Information


Stop and restart via Services Management tools, i.e. go to Control Panel > Performance and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Services.  Select MarkVision Server or MarkVision Web Server and Start/Stop.
