Solution

Overview


The 24.xx paper jam indicates that paper is stuck in one of the following areas:

    • Area B 
    • Area T1
    • Area C (optional 500-sheet drawers)
    • Area C (optional 2000-sheet drawer)
    • Area T (optional 500-sheet drawers)
    • Area T (optional 2000-sheet drawer)

After checking and clearing these areas following the instructions below, make sure all print covers, doors, and trays are closed, and then press the  button to resume printing.

NOTE: The printer also displays Pages Jammed. Be sure to remove all the jammed pages before pressing .

 

 

Area B

Step Action Illustration
1 Open the left access door until it latches open.

Remove all visible media.


Note
:
It is important to remove any torn media from the printer.

Close the door.

Note: Open Tray 1, and make sure all the paper is  firmly seated and pushed down in the tray.

No: Continue to Checking Area T1.

If clearing Area B did not clear the jam, carefully open Tray 1 and remove any visible paper jams.
 

Note: It is important to remove any torn media from the printer.  Before closing the tray, ensure the paper is  firmly seated and pushed all the way down into the tray.

2 Close Tray 1.
Did this clear the paper jam message?

Yes: The error is resolved.
No: Continue to Area C (Optional 500 sheet drawers) if you have an optional 500 sheet-drawer or to Area C (Optional 2000 sheet drawer) if you have an optional 2000-sheet drawer.  If you do not have either of these, continue to Contacting Lexmark.

 


Area C (Optional 500-sheet drawers)


Step Action Illustration

Open the 500-sheet drawer access door.  Hold the door down and remove any paper jams.
 

Note: Check the tray to ensure that the entire paper stack is loaded correctly and pushed all the way down inside the tray.

2 Close the door.
Did this clear the paper jam message?

Yes: The error is resolved.
No: Continue to Area T (Optional 500-sheet drawers).

Area C (Optional 2000-sheet drawer)

 

Step Action Illustration
1 Open the 2000-sheet drawer access door. Remove all jammed media from the rollers.
2 Close the door.
Did this clear the paper jam message?

Yes: The error is resolved.
No: Continue to Area T (Optional 2000-sheet drawer).

Area T (Optional 500-sheet drawers)

 

Step Action
1

Carefully open trays 2 through 4 (i.e. all of the optional 500-sheet trays that are installed), and remove all paper jams.
 

Note: Check the tray to ensure that the entire paper stack is loaded correctly and pushed all the way down inside the tray.

2 Close trays 2 through 4.
Did this clear the paper jam message?

Yes: The error is resolved.
No: Continue to Contacting Lexmark.

 



Area T (Optional 2000-sheet drawer)


Step Action Illustration
1 Open the 2000-sheet drawer, remove any paper jams, and make sure all the media is stacked correctly in the tray. 
2 Close the 2000-sheet drawer.
Did this clear the paper jam message?

Yes: The error is resolved.
No: Continue to Contacting Lexmark.

If the jamming continues


Check the type of print media you are using. Make sure the print media type falls within the recommended guidelines. If you are not already doing so, please try printing on plain copy paper to eliminate any special print media as the cause of the issue. Refer to the Media Specifications section in the printer's User's Guide for recommended paper types; click here to download this section (file size: 160KB).

If a 2000-sheet drawer option is installed, make sure it is aligned correctly with the printer. If there is any slight angle between the printer and the option, it can cause the paper to jam as it feeds into the printer.
