Encoding Issues with MVP Messenger 11.0

Problem

Unable to create MVP Messenger folder actions based on command lines on the MVP server run with a non-English interface; Unable to manage actions containing characters from the extended character set

Environment

MarkVision Professional (MVP) 11.0; MarkVision Messenger (MVP) 11.0; Depending on your regional settings, the character set used on your MVP server can be different from the set on your MVP Messenger web interface.  In consequence, the system is unable to identify the actions and manage them correctly.
A second JavaScript issue prevented Messenger from creating an action when a language other than English was used. This occurred when you had to create a folder action that was based on a command line run on the MVP server itself.

Solution

A new set of web pages has been designed to force character encoding to UTF-8 by default so as to prevent these issues. This new set also contains a fix for the Java issue that prevented some messenger actions from being created when the non-English interface was used.
To install this new set of pages, do the following:

  1. Download this zip file.

  2. Extract the messenger.jar file from the archive.

  3. Stop MarkVision Web Server.

  4. Go to C:\Program Files\Lexmark\MarkVision Server\mvp-tomcat\webapps\messenger\WEB-INF\lib.

  5. Replace the existing messenger.jar file with the one you just extracted from the zip file  (step 2).

  6. Copy the extracted messenger.jar file into C:\Program Files\Lexmark\MarkVision Server\mvp-tomcat\webapps\messenger\WEB-INF\lib.

  7. Start MarkVision Web Server.
