Problem

Message: "Can't find TWAIN driver" when 'Scan' is clicked; Cannot find TWAIN when scanning to OCR

Environment

ABBYY FineReader; Microsoft Windows XP; Microsoft Windows 2000; Microsoft Windows Me; Microsoft Windows 98; Lexmark X6130; Lexmark X6160; Using FineReader Sprint to scan a document; Scan button is clicked;
This message means that FineReader Sprint cannot find your default scanner.

Solution



  1. In FineReader Sprint 5.0, go to the File menu and choose Select Scanner.

  2. Specify the correct driver for your scanner and try to scan a page.

  3. If you are unable to scan, the problem is most likely with your scanner driver. You can check the scanner driver using a third-party application, i.e. not the program supplied with the scanner.


    • For example, to test the scanner driver with Imaging (not included with Windows XP) , go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Imaging and try to scan a page.

  4. If your scanner works with Imaging but not with FineReader Sprint, contact Lexmark Technical Support.
