Problem
Black vertical lines on copies or faxes; Streaks on copies or faxes from the ADF

Automatic Document Feeder (ADF);
If the lines only appear when you are making copies through the Auto Document Feeder (ADF), there is something on the left edge of the glass. The scanner uses the same lamp for the flatbed as it does for the ADF. If flatbed scans do not have lines, the lamp is not causing the problem.

Solution
If copies made from the ADF contain lines but copies made on the flatbed look fine, the scanner glass needs to be cleaned. Do the following:
- Moisten a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel with isopropyl alcohol (95%).
- Open the document cover as shown and use the damp cloth to clean the glass. Pay special attention to the left edge of the glass, highlighted in green in the image below. Once that area is clean, the lines should no longer appear on copies or faxes sent through the ADF.
