Microsoft ® Windows 8 and Windows RT Driver Compatibility List
Instructions:
- Locate your printer in one of these three lists.
To do this, select one of these three links below, or press Ctrl + F on your keyboard to perform a browser search for your printer model.

Driver Support Explanations

Use driver selected by Windows 8 Class driver |
Regardless of connection type (USB or Network), Windows 8 automatically detects and installs an operating system-supplied (In-OS) driver. Furthermore, if an internet connection is available, the operating system's Windows Update* feature also has the ability to locate a driver for your device. If both (In-OS) and the Windows Update* available, the (In-OS) driver's installation will still occur but it will precede the final Windows Update driver installation. |

Windows RT will automatically install a driver for your device, since it's supported by Microsoft's new printing architecture. |
What does this mean for my printer? Microsoft completely reinvented and redesigned the Windows Runtime (RT) printing experience. To accommodate a reduction in resources available on ARM-equipped devices, and to maximize performance when trying to print from Windows 8 apps, Microsoft has developed a new printing architecture. The new architecture will eventually enhance your printing experience, but it also means that many legacy Lexmark devices will not be supported in this Microsoft operating system environment. |
* This is a Microsoft provided service that updates the operating system its own internal printer driver store.
