Termination is required in order for all SCSI devices on the SCSI bus to communicate with one another. Each "end" of the SCSI bus MUST be terminated.

Each scan unit has two DIP switch panels on the back. Proper termination is achieved when all four DIP switches are down on the left panel and when the first and fourth DIP switches are down on the right panel.

• If the scanner continues to display v3.9 after you have checked the DIP switch configuration, reconnect the 50-pin SCSI cable to both scanner and Fax/SCSI ethernet card. Be sure to check for damage to any of the pins on this cable. 
• Print out to the Fax/SCSI ethernet page to confirm that both panel and scanner are being recognized. For example:

• Device ID, Revision Name: 0, 3.9V Lexmark OptraImage Panel
• Device ID, Revision Name: 6, 1.07 Lexmark OptraImage 2X2
