This article provides a guide on how to set up an envelope tray (Tray 3) on the printer.

 

Setting up envelope tray for first time use


IMPORTANT! The printer firmware needs to be at least the FW4 (base=CXTPP.040.087 and engine=YK.040.E015) level code.


Step Action

Check the printer firmware by referring to how to check the printer's firmware for the steps.

Notes:

  • If the printer firmware level meets the above requirements (at least FW4), skip Steps 3 and 4.
  • If there is an SPR (Special Product Request) firmware on the printer, it needs to be at least at the FW 4 level. If the printer's SPR firmware is older than FW4, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further assistance.

Follow the setup guide to position the input tray on the printer. Important! The envelope tray must be in the Tray 3 location.

 


 

Note: The tray part number 21K0787 is labeled on its box.

Download the most recent firmware for the printer. (Go to the Lexmark support site > type the printer model > click on the printer firmware link that is given > then download.)

Update the printer firmware by following the steps found in the README_Updating_Firmware document or from how to update the printer's firmware.

Download the tray firmware and load it to the printer by following the procedures found in the README_Updating_Firmware document, or follow the same steps on how to update the printer's firmware.

The envelope tray is now ready to use.
