Overview
This article details the steps in installing the Lexmark printer driver on a Windows operating system. The Lexmark driver can be found on the installation CD that comes with your printer or via the download option available in our Lexmark website.
Inkjet Installation
The below installation procedure is identical for the following printers except for printers lacking FAX or wired ETHERNET capabilities.
- S31X* Series (No Fax)
- S41X Series (No Ethernet)
- S51X Series
- Pro 71X Series
- Pro 91X Series
- Pro 4000 (No Ethernet) and Pro 4000c
- Pro 5500 and Pro 5500t
NOTE: *An X denotes any number within a given printer model series.
Laser Installation
The Laser printer or MFP installation may slightly vary from the installation shown below; i.e., hardware setup differs per printer model.

Perform the following unpacking and printer preparation steps, clicking Continue after each step performed: Steps will vary slightly by printer model.

It is critical to make sure cartridges are properly inserted and seated in the carrier before proceeding with the installation. To summarize:

The printer software will start installing to the default folder C:/Lexmark or the folder specified in STEP 3. | ![]() |

How do you want to connect your printer? Select one of the following and then click Continue.

Select the current Wi-Fi indicator light status and then click Continue.

Click Continue after you disconnect the Ethernet cable since the printer will not accept simultaneous wired and wireless network connections. | ![]() |

Select your network name (SSID) and click Continue. This is your AP network name (SSID). Be cautious of identical names in areas of heavy wireless congestion, especially if you are using the router's default SSID. If your AP SSID is not visible

Click Continue after selecting Yes or No thanks for how you would like the software to handle the processing of passphrase.
Important! This is a case-sensitive and spacing-sensitive value. Failure to enter the security key correctly will result in a Connection failed message. Try to re-enter the value more than once since incorrect entry of the key is common. |

Successful negotiation of security parameters will result in the printer being configured with the following settings:

| 23 | Remove the installation cable. If the procedure was successful, a network settings page will print. | ![]() |

| 24 | Connection Successful, Your printer has successfully connected to your wireless network. Click Continue. A green Wi-Fi light indicator should now be present on the printer. |

Next, decide which Advanced Features you would like to configure by selecting or deselecting the following functions:

Your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will need to provide any of the above settings if there is a setting mismatch. You will need to provide your E-mail Username and E-mail Password. |
