 This article discusses the following Fax Log Settings:

  • Transmission Log
  • Receive Error Log
  • Auto Print Logs
  • Fax Job Log (Enable Job Log)
  • Fax Call Log (Enable Call Log)

 

 

How to turn on fax logs 

There are two methods or locations for setting your fax log preferences.

Method 1: Control Panel Activation


This method is preferred if the device is not on the network.

 

  1. Click on the MENU button.
  2. Click the down-arrow and click on SETTINGS when visible.
  3. Click on the FAX SETTINGS.
  4. Select ANALOG FAX SETUP.
  5. Click on FAX Log Settings.
  6. Navigate to any one of the settings: Transmission Log; Fax Receive Error Log; Enable Job Log; Enable Call Log.
  7. Adjust settings as necessary.
  8. Click SUBMIT

 NOTE: You may need to enter additional pauses into the dial prefix in certain environments.

Method 2: Embedded Web Server Activation

This method is preferred if the device is on the network and you are not near the machine.  

  1. Obtain the printer's TCP/IP address.
  2. Open your web browser.
  3. In the URL field, type http://MFP's IP_ADDRESS, where IP_ADDRESS is the TCP/IP address of the printer.
  4. Click on SETTINGS.
  5. Click on FAX SETTINGS.
  6. Click on ANALOG FAX SETUP.
  7. Scroll down to FAX LOG SETTINGS.
  8. Navigate to any one of the settings: Transmission Log; Fax Receive Error Log; Enable Job Log; Enable Call Log.
  9. Adjust settings as necessary.
  10. Click on SUBMIT.

Fax Log Identification and Comparisons

  

Log type Purpose
MFP setting Where to enable this setting
Transmission Log

Provides notification of success when sending a fax, and a fax error code upon transmission failure. It also provides a thumbnail image of the first page scanned.

When does it print?

  • After every page
  • Print on error
  • Never
Transmission Log
  • MFP web page
  • Operator Panel
  • MarkVision Professional (MVP)
Fax Receive Error Log

Provides notification of fax receive failure.

 

When does it print?

  • Print on Error
  • Never
Receive Error Log
  • MFP web page
  • Operator Panel
  • MVP
Fax Job Log

Provides a summary of all MFP tasks for the last 200 fax jobs; e.g.,  Driver/Send, Scan/Send, Receive/Forward, Receive/Print...

 

When does it print?

If  Auto Print Logs is activated, a report will print out every 200* pages.

Note: When Disabled, the log is still captured but it cannot be viewed or printed.

Enable Job Log
  • MFP web page
  • Operator Panel
  • MVP
Fax Call Log

Provides a summary of fax dialing history for the last 100 jobs. This log does provide the fax error code, which is useful when attempting to troubleshoot issues.

 

When does it print?

If  Auto Print Logs is activated, a report will print out every 100* pages.

Note: When Disabled, the log is still captured but it cannot be viewed or printed.
