A. Use the following instructions to remove the printhead and cartridges from the defective printer to the new machine:
Make sure the printer is ON.
From the printer control panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Replace Printhead, or for Touchscreen panels, touch Ink Menu > More Options > Replace Printhead.
Open the printer cover.
NOTE: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, then turn off the printer. Follow the power cord removal instructions on Procedure B, and then slide the carrier to the center before proceeding to the next step.
Press the tab, and lift the latch.
Pull up to remove the printhead.
Close the printer cover.
B. Use the following instructions to remove the power cord and power supply from the defective printer:
- Do not remove the power supply by pulling on the cord.
- Read the safety information included with your replacement product before connecting power or making any cabling connections.
Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Unplug the power cord from the power supply in the printer.
Remove the power supply from the printer.
C. Use the following instructions to Install a new Printhead to the printer.
Step Action 1
Open Cover to Install Printhead.
Note: The carrier moves to the printhead access area (middle) when no printhead is installed in the printer.
Grab the tab on the carrier Latch and pull it up.
3 Remove the new Printhead from the shipping container. 4
Place the new Printhead in to the carrier.
5 Close the latch until it clicks. 6 Close the Printer Cover. 7 Printhead installation is complete.
D. Replacing/Installing new Ink Cartridges
Step Action 1 Switch the printer on. 2
Open the printer.
Note: The printhead moves to the cartridge installation position.
Press the release tab, and then remove the used ink cartridge or cartridges.
Remove the ink cartridge from the pack, and then remove the protective cap from the ink cartridge.
If your ink cartridge comes with a muzzle cap, then remove the cap.
If your ink cartridge comes with a twist cap, then twist and remove the cap.
Install each ink cartridge. Use two hands to install the black cartridge.
Note: Install the new ink cartridges immediately after removing the protective cap to avoid exposing the ink to air.
6 Close the printer.
