What you will see

After adding the fax card option (FRU# 40X4821 - The following parts are usually not the primary cause of this error - DO NOT recommend for first repair call.):
  • You are unable to see the FAX icon.
  • You are unable to configure fax settings.
  • You are unable detect its installation.
  • You must enable this hardware through the Initial Setup Wizard.


Affected Printers

  • Lexmark X463 MFP with added Lexmark MarkNet N8110-V.34 fax card. PN# 14F0052
  • Lexmark X651 MFP with added Lexmark MarkNet N8110-V.34 fax card. PN# 14F0052



Procedure: Enable FAX via Initial Setup

NOTE: This option enables or disables the feature in question.    
Perform the following:
  1. From the operator panel, select Menus > Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Select Yes > Submit, and then reboot the MFP.
    Optional embedded web server: Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Submit, and then reboot the MFP.
  2. Follow setup steps through Language, Country, Time Zone until you reach Functions to Enable.
  3. Place a checkmark next to the FAX function.
  4. Click Continue and finish the initial setup.

Secondary Enable Procedure: Access Control Activation 

This is a secondary procedure for activation of various functions: 
  1. Click on Menus.
  2. Click on Security.
  3. Click on Edit Security Setups.
  4. Click on Edit Access Controls.
  5. Scroll to the Fax function(s) and change the status to Enabled.
  6. Click Submit

NOTE: The function icon will disappear from the User Interface.
