What you will see

After selecting Display for a particular function via Home Screen Customization, the function icon fails to be be displayed on the color touch screen. 

What should be known

    • A disabled function will cause selections made via the Home Screen Customization configuration menu to be ignored.   

    • Other setup configuration settings for the function will not be available. 

    • You must first enable the function/hardware through the Initial Setup Wizard, or access control, before you can add or remove function icons via Home Screen Customization

This example provides guidance for users who are unable to the get the icon to appear on the HOME screen.
Check the following three procedures or variables that control the visibility of a function icon: 

  • Home Screen Customization

  • - Initial Setup

  • - Access Control

 Procedure 1: Verify your selection via "Home Screen Customization"

  1. Click on Menus.
  2. Click () next to Settings.
  3. Click () next to  General Settings.
  4. Press () until Home Screen Customization is displayed.
  5. Click () next to Home Screen Customization.
  6. Press () until function of interest is displayed.
  7. Confirm that it shows Display next to the function. If not, use right or left arrows to switch from Do Not Display to Display.  
  8. Press Submit

Optional embedded web server path: Settings > General Settings > Home screen customization
E.g., http://mfp_IP_address, where IP_address is the TCP/IP address of the MFP.

Procedure 2: Initial Setup

NOTE: If the icon still fails to display, perform the following:
  1. From the operator panel, select Menus > Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Select Yes > Submit, and then reboot the MFP.
    Optional embedded web server: Settings > General Settings > Run Initial Setup > Submit, and then reboot the MFP.
  2. Follow setup steps through Language, Country, Time Zone until you reach Functions to Enable.
  3. Place a checkmark next to the FAX function or function of interest.
  4. Click Continue, and then finish the initial setup.

Procedure 3: Access Control Activation 

  1. Click on Menus.
  2. Click on Security.
  3. Click Edit Security Setups.
  4. Click Edit Access Controls.
  5. Scroll to the function of interest, and then verify that status shows Enabled.
  6. If necessary, change the value to Enabled, and then click Submit
