The below installation procedure will be the same for the following products with the exception of FAX Setup in Step 7 (Printer Preparation) and the stage in the installation when you will be asked to configure your fax settings (not shown):

3	Welcome... select Install.
4	Accept the License Agreement, and click Continue.
5	Install Type will appear. Select Typical and click Continue.  If you would like to change your target install directory, select Custom and click Continue.
6	Setting up a new printer? will appear. Select Yes, I am setting up this printer for the first time, and click Continue.   NOTE:  If the printer has previously been configured on another machine, select NO, My computer is already set up.  I am installing it on another computer.
7	Perform the following unpacking and printer preparation steps, clicking Continue after each step performed: Unpack the printer. Remove all tape and packing materials from the printer. Raise the operator panel.  Raise the paper support. Extend the paper exit tray. Load paper and adjust the guide.  Connect the power cord and check insertion of the power supply (brick).  Connect the power cord to the power supply and wall outlet. Make sure the power is ON. Set the language, if needed. Set the country, if needed. ADDITIONAL SETUP (CD instructions may not display.) FAX equipped Models Action Select Time Click . Select Format (AM, PM) Click . Select Fax phone number Click . Enter FAX name Click .   Raise the scanner unit. Press down on the blue cartridge levers. Remove the tape from the cartridges. Insert the cartridges.  NOTE:  Perform procedure for Left - Black cartridge and Right - Color cartridge. Press the spring-loaded cartridge covers down until they snap into the blue cartridge levers. 8	Check the Wi-Fi indicator...  It should be orange () for first-time installations. Other possibilities include: No light - This would indicate that the printer is turned OFF, that the device is in power saver mode, or a possible hardware failure. A green light - This would suggest that this printer has already been configured and is communicating with some access point.  Select this if installing  software on additional computers. 9	Printer Connection... How do you want to connect your printer?  Select Wireless Connection, and click Continue. Select USB Cable if using a USB cable for a local connection.
10	Connect the installation (USB) cable between PC and printer, and click Continue.  See 'Windows Vista' below before clicking Continue.
Windows Vista	Additional notifications will appear after you connect the USB cable.  Click Cancel. Found New Hardware notification Select Ask Me Again Later or Don't Show this message again for this device before clicking Cancel.
11	Searching for Wireless Networks now appears.  This site survey will locate ALL other wireless devices or networks. NOTE:  Only local subnets or network segments will be searched.
12	Choose a Network will appear. If your AP network name (SSID) is present under Connect to... , select it and click Continue.  If your AP SSID is not visible or you are using factory router settings, see step 12a.
12a	OPTIONAL STEP 12: The following conditions may require you to select Connect to another network and click Continue: if you never configured your access point (AP) with a unique SSID value and you reside in a congested area, if you reside in an area of heavy network traffic, if the AP you are trying to connect to is not currently available, if the AP is on a different network segment. if Visibility Status or Broadcast SSID on the router is set to Hide or Disable.  if you have low or unstable connectivity with the AP. Click here for more information on signal strength, making sure your computer can access the Internet. See 'Related Articles' for other tips. When you select Connect to another network, a list of all available wireless networks/devices will display.  4 Possible Scenarios:  1.  multiple SSIDs with the same name. Actions - If you are very close to the AP, select the name (SSID) with the highest signal strength.   NOTE: Success is not guaranteed in congested areas.  A neighboring AP may be closer to your workstation and printer than your AP.    - Select manually enter network information, and enter your AP (wireless router) SSID and channel.   2.  your AP SSID is not listed.  Actions - Check communication with the wireless router by verifying that the host computer is communicating with the AP.  To do this, check the wireless connection notification icon in the notification area ('systray') of the taskbar.    - Make sure Broadcast(ing) SSID is turned ON or Visibility Status is not set to Hide or Invisible.  If you find this setting turned OFF and you turn it ON, you can optionally click Back a couple of times to re-scan the network for your network (name).  Otherwise, manual entry is your best option.   - Select manually enter network information and obtain and enter the following AP values:  SSID, channel, and security key.  3.  your AP is out of range or is experiencing interference Action  - Move the devices closer to each other, and click Back a couple of times to re-scan the network for your network (name). - Adjust the antennas, or consider the purchase of height gain antennas, or attempt to change channels by accessing your router (AP) web page.  - Verify that there is an orange Wi-Fi indicator light on the printer. 4.  the AP you are trying to connect with is on another part of the network or is currently not active.  Action - Select manually enter network information and obtain and enter the following AP values:  SSID, channel, and security key. 13	When you click Continue in step 12, Network Security Information will appear.  Select the type of security and click Continue.  WPA 2 only can be selected under Advanced WPA Options.
14	Enter the security network key, and click Continue.  IMPORTANT!  This is a case-sensitive and spacing-sensitive value (e.g. Hookooekoo2006, not hookoo ekoo 2006).  Failure to enter the security key correctly will result in a Connection failed message.  Try to re-enter the value.
15	Please Wait "Your printer is connecting to your network..." message.
16	Remove the installation cable.  If the procedure was successful, a network settings page will print.
17	Connection Successful, Your printer has successfully connected to your wireless network.  Click Continue. A green Wi-Fi light indicator should now be present on the printer.
18	Enter a nickname for your printer... The default Lexmark #### series value can be kept or you can enter any personalized name. This name helps to identify your printer when you perform an installation on a second machine.  It replaces the Zero Configuration Name on your network settings page.
19	Final configuration takes place with this message: "Please Wait... Preparing your printer."
FAX equipped Models	Do You Want To Set Up Fax Now? will appear. Select Yes, and then Continue if you want to be guided through the fax setup process.
20	Print a sample page, and click Continue.
21	Product Registration Choose whether or not to Register the product and take part in the Lexmark Connect Program, and click Next.
22	Install the Lexmark Toolbar or deselect this option, and click Continue.
23	Congratulations, click Finish.
