Close all programs that are open.
Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the PC via a USB cable.
Cancel any Add New Hardware Wizard screens that appear.
Insert the Lexmark P4300 Series Installation CD and wait for the Installation screen to appear on your computer.
Click Install. The License Agreement for Lexmark 3400 Series installation will appear.
Drivers for different devices will now be installed. The installation process will take a few minutes. Different screens will indicate the progress of the installation. The Lexmark Printer Driver Installation screen will appear first.
A different screen will appear to indicate that additional software (like the OCR software) is being installed. The upper indication bar shows the overall installation progress while the lower indication bar shows the progress of the particular file set that is being installed.
When the Print an Alignment Page screen appears, place a checkmark ( Ö ) in the box if you want to print an alignment page and click Continue. If you don't want to align the cartridges, just click Continue. The Additional Software Setup screen gives you the option to install the Lexmark Web Toolbar for Internet Explorer 5.5 or later.
If you want to install the Lexmark Web Toolbar, place a checkmark in the box and click Continue. The Printing Opportunities screen will appear next, giving you the option to print a test page.
Make your selection and then click Continue to proceed with the installation. The Registration screen appears next.
If you don't want to register your printer online or participate in Lexmark's "Connect" program, deselect both options. Click Continue.
