Unable to send UCF to printer from MarkVision Professional 11.0; Cannot change printer setting through MVP

Environment

How to send a UCF to the printer from MVP 11.0; Universal Configuration File (UCF); MarkVision Professional (MVP) 11.0; MarkNet N8000 family; C752L; Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP); File Transfer Protocol (FTP); MVP sends generic file downloads through TFTP.  As we see from this issue, it is best to send UCF files via FTP.

Solution

Overview

In order to send a UCF from MarkVision Professional 11.0, you need to access the MVP Web page, change an FTP setting, launch MVP, and resend the UCF.  Please follow the instructions below.

Sending a UCF from MVP: Procedure

  1. Access the MVP Web Server:


    1. Open Internet Explorer.

    2. In the address field, enter http://ip.address.of.mvpserver:9180/~MvServer (replacing ip.adress.of.mvpserver with the server's IP address).
      Note: This address is case sensitive. 
       

  2. Change an FTP setting:


    1. On the left side of the screen, click Parameters.

       

    2. Enter the administrator name and password.

       

    3. Scroll more than halfway down the screen and look for the services.fileDownload.forceFTP setting.  As shown below, the default value is false.

       

    4. Change the value to true.
       

    5. Click Save at the top of the screen.

       

  3. Launch MVP and Resend UCF:


    1. Click on the MVP icon on your desktop.

    2. Log into MarkVision Professional.

    3. Click All tasks at the top of your screen and select Generic File Download.

    4. Select your UCF file on the left-hand side of the screen.  NOTE: If you have not previously installed the UCF, please do so now by pressing LOAD.

    5. On the right-hand side of your screen, click the down arrow under Target Location and select UCF Files.  The Remote Directory will change to /Dev/Config.

       

    6. Click Next.

    7. Select your printer and click Finish.

       

    8. Click the Close button when file transfer is complete.
       

    9. You should now be able to send a UCF successfully to any Lexmark laser printer.
