Solution

Overview

You may want to save a scanned document as a PDF file in order to make it more manageable in size.  Follow the instructions below to do this.

Using the operator panel
  1. Load the document you want to scan into the flatbed or ADF of the printer.
  2. Change the MODE of the printer to SCAN. The LCD display should list the software applications that you can send the scan to.
  3. Use the arrow pad to change the application to FILE and then press the SELECT button. An asterisk (*) should appear next to FILE.
  4. Press either the Color or the Black button to start the scan. You will be prompted to save the document.
  5. Choose a location in which to save the document.

  6. Change Save as type to PDF, and click Save.  The resultant PDF file is much smaller than if you had scanned directly to Acrobat Reader.

Using the All-In-One Center

  1. Load the document you want to scan into the flatbed or ADF of the printer.
     

  2. From your PC, launch the All-In-One Center from the list of Programs.


  3. From the drop-down list under  SCAN, select FILE.  You will be prompted to save the document.
     

  4. Choose a location in which to save the document.

  5. Change Save as type to PDF, and click Save.
