Defect Symptom

Your printer produces printed sheets with solid black on the pages or horizontal black stripes.

  1. Check the KnowledgeBase TE378 article.
  2. Print out the Print Quality Pages and use them to determine whether the issue is with one color (possibly due to a single supply item), or with all the colors (indicating a more general issue with the printer). 
  3. Print out the Print Defects Guide and use it to measure the defect frequency on the print sample. 
  4. Replace the part that matches the defect frequency. If service is needed, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider to arrange a service call.  
  5. Print out the Menu Settings Page and use it to check the consumable supplies levels. Under Cartridge Information, check whether the black consumable supply is low. If it is low, replace it.
  6. Using the Menu Settings Page, check the status of the Imaging Kit. If the consumable supply is low, replace it. 
  7. If issue persists after performing the steps above, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider to arrange a service call.
