Suggested Fix

Download and implement this Microsoft Hotfix on client machines to prevent future issues.

NOTE: See Microsoft's KB article 2864755 for more information.

The fix above does not restore currently missing dependent file keys. For these broken definitions, you can perform the following to repopulate the Dependent file list on affected clients.

  1. Go to another PC with known functioning driver or queue; e.g., a PC that displays the correct options under Printing Preferences.
  2. Open up the registry editor and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3\[Affected Printer]
  3. Select the driver in question; i.e., Lexmark Universal v2 XL. NOTE: Make sure the driver files match the driver name.
  4. Export the specific printer's registry values; e.g., *.reg. Click here if unsure how to export registry files. NOTE: Lexmark is not responsible for improper manipulation of the system registry. It is advised that you perform a full registry backup before performing any action within the registry.
  5. Import the registry values into the affected client PC to restore the dependent file list.

NOTE: if this procedure is unacceptable or not possible, you can choose to delete the existing queue and recreate a new print queue.
